Contigo Ranch Fredericksburg’s First Wedding! Cori & Kelly Cavender

Wahooo when dreams come to life it’s a big thing.   Like I shared in my earlier post about Contigo, I’ve been watching this venue grow from dreamy blueprints and was so SO jazzed to find out that this lovely October wedding would be their first ever!   And to add to that, Cori the bride is the sister to my friend Brynn!  So nearly all of my small group friends were in attendance, it was the first time most of them had seen me out doing what I do, and fun to keep running into familiar faces at the reception all night.   What I also loved about this evening was just how perfect everything went, even when it could have been a photo-disaster.  I’ll explain!   But first, to get in the mood you really really should turn on this song while you scroll on- it was the coolest first dance song!  I’ve had it on repeat while I wrote this – so I’m making you do the same!

Ok now that you’ve got the jam on…

It was amazing!

THIS DRESS!!  The ceremony filled with song, communion, prayer, and an epic sunset off the cliff!   The ceremony started a little late, and ran a little long, which is no big deal for most people except the photographer!  (GOODBYE NATURAL LIGHT!)  I loved shooting a wedding at sunset of course, but the problem is that all the formal photos were going to be in dim dusk light that rapidly gets darker every 5 minutes.  But by the grace of God, a gorgeous sunset colored the sky!  So it looked like we planned it this way haha!  *Disclaimer!*  We were saved by this sunset- if it were a cloudy day, there would be just a dark bank of horizon behind them…not your ideal photobackdrop- even if you’re on a ridge like this – that amount of darkess around you is just not ideal.  BUT!  It turned out awesome.  Everyone was in awe of that sky.

Cori & Kelly had a private table for two brought up to the bluff and dined there- that was a GREAT IDEA!  I totally recommend that brides consider doing this!  If you don’t eat alone, you’ll get a few bites in between greetings, because if you are within sight and sitting down, your table becomes an unofficial receiving line!  Have the most romantic dinner of your lives- eat it, take 20mins alone, enjoy it together!  Then boogie the night away!
